Sea and Sky Collection

I combine the ancient technique of enameling with contemporary landscape-inspired designs in this colorfully elegant line of jewelry. All enameling is individually fired on reclaimed metal and each design is inspired by plants, animals, and the universe we all inhabit.

Blackbird Pin

$46.00

This pin is inspired by the Beatles song Blackbird. Paul McCartney, touched by the bravery and strength of young Black women, wrote the song after hearing about the Little Rock Nine and the tumultuous events that followed. Have you heard the version of this song that high school student Emma Stevens sang in Mi’kmaq? She and her collaborators have added layers of meaning to this song, written by a white man about Black struggle, by using it to raise awareness about Indigenous language.

I am not a person of color and I cannot know what it is like to be one. But, like Paul McCartney, I can use my art to say I believe in change, I support the movement toward equality. All of the profits from the sale of this Blackbird Pin will be donated to the Innocence Project. By buying and wearing a Blackbird pin, you will show your support for those working to enact change.

Let’s all use our voices, our skills, and our hearts to work toward change, compassion, and honesty.

Each pin is hand sawn from reclaimed steel, hand soldered, and kiln fired with lustrous black enamel. The bird measures 1 1/4 inch long by 7/8 inch high with a 5/16” long brass pin.

When placing your order, please let me know if I can include your name when donating to the Innocence Project.

All jewelry is handmade from a minimum of 50% reclaimed materials. Each piece is unique, so the item you receive will vary slightly from the photograph. A percentage of every sale is donated to a non-profit environmental, humanitarian, or arts organization. Thank you for supporting sustainable craft!
